COMMITTEE

David Lees

Committee Chair

I joined the committee in 2021 as Membership Secretary and became chair in 2026. I've been in the club since 2019 and running fairly seriously now since doing my first half marathon in 2012. I'm a road runner and although I love the countryside absolutely hate all things mud and so it's solid surfaces all the way for me. You can find me at a parkrun most Saturdays, running or volunteering and I also run up to marathon distance, working my way through the Abbot world majors.

Brian Warner

Membership Secretary

I have been with SRC since 2010 and joined in an effort to shed a few pounds and get into shape. Little did I know how much I would end up enjoying running and it becoming a big part of my life.  I’ve had a go at everything (Road/XC and Fell) and enjoy every part of it – particularly the outdoor freedom and the time where you can simply relax and concentrate on nothing more than running.  I’m back now purely on the roads and enjoy anything up to a half marathon distance but I don’t do further than that.  I’ve found SRC to be such a great club with everyone inspiring and encouraging you to always do your best.  Every day is different but some days that day can be yours...

Sue Winter

Club Secretary

I joined Sinfin as a social member after our son (who has autism) started running with Sinfin during the pandemic. The club members were so welcoming and supportive that after our son joined as a full member, my hubby and I decided to join in a supporting role. Since then, our whole lives have revolved around running, despite both of us being walkers rather than runners! Being a part of Sinfin Running Club has literally changed our lives, and has seen us travel to many places in the UK, and more recently worldwide, supporting our son in races. We rarely get a lie in at the weekend with parkruns on Saturday and training runs or races on Sunday, but we wouldn’t change any of it as the running community is just amazing. I became more involved with the club when I began to help with organising and presenting the annual club awards night, and eventually I decided to stand as Club Secretary when there was a vacancy.

Jane Wade

Treasurer

I'm Wadey, and I joined the club in September 2022.  I've been a keen club runner for over 20 years and raced most distances from one mile to marathons, including one ultra and a Welsh mountain race.  I enjoy on and off road running but do love the fells, which is what initially attracted me to this awesome club.

Dennis Ceranic

Vice Chair

I joined Sinfin in 2020 after not running for a long time.  I mainly stick to road running but tried the fells last year and enjoyed it. Distance races such as half and full marathons are my preference but will have a go at anything.  Joining Sinfin has really been good for me.  The club offers so much and the friendliness and social side are second to none.  If there’s anything I can help you with please ask.

Sean Hedley

Men's Welfare Officer

Hi, my name is Sean.  I’m part of the welfare team. I have been running for a few years but have never been a competitive runner. Since joining Sinfin at the end of 2024, I have improved a lot. I wanted to join a community where I could learn and improve with others. I am excited about my first full marathon in 2025. I love helping others and always have time for a chat!

Sheila Groves

Women's Welfare Officer

I joined the club in 2022, and the fun and friendships I have made are amazing. The support and encouragement I have received have greatly improved my mental health and fitness. I regularly attend Wednesday club nights and am always around for a chat. I enjoy both road running and off-road running and run all distances up to a marathon. I particularly enjoy parkruns, both running and volunteering.

Robert Lane

Technical & Social Media Lead

I've been running since 2011, originally running with Team Derby Runner before joining Sinfin in 2016. I'm a big fan of fast short distance road running, anything upto a half marathon, but preferrably 10ks.  Over the years I've also done my fair share of cross country, fell and trail running and have ran over 700 races, about 60% of those parkruns, which I'm a massive advocate of.  I'm responsible for everything technical - yes I'm the "IT person" (but I'm no dinosaur!) - from capturing of member's race results, and putting together the league tables for the club's championships, to maintaining the club website, and putting together other social media content along with a small team of other members.

Yasmin Greatorex-Briggs

Run Co-ordinator

I joined Sinfin Running Club at the start of 2023 to be part of a community that combines a strong social atmosphere with a passion for road and fell running. Since joining, the club has supported me in achieving my LiRF qualification, which has strengthened my ability to lead and support runners. I’m passionate about helping every runner reach their potential and love seeing people achieve new personal bests. You’ll often find me taking part in a variety of events—whether it’s road, fell, or XC—because I enjoy the challenge and diversity of all disciplines.

Kieran Mitchell

Club Apparel Organiser

I've been running since the COVID lockdown and joined the club in 2023 to improve my running and learn from more experienced members. It’s been one of the best decisions I’ve made, as I’ve not only grown as a runner but also found a great community. I enjoy a mix of road races, fell races, and cross country, but for me, the best part of the club is the social side, there’s nothing better than coming together as a group after a race. Now, as the Men’s Cross Country Captain, my goal is to encourage other members of the club to step out of their comfort zones and try off-road races.
